Still have lots of songs with bad names

Post by ebw6674 » Thu Oct 22, 2009 5:47 pm

I've struggled through getting SS to straighten out my library, with about 9 "itunes stopped responding"s but I finally have all the duplicates fixed, but I still about 1400 songs with names like "01 01 01 Don't Let Me Down". Some have artist or albums and some don't but they do not show up in SS as any kind of problem.

What should I do.

Thanks in advance,
Erik

Since no one else stepped in to respond ...

I know of no way to automatically deal with tracks named like that. There may be a good audio fingerprint solution for automatically tagging tracks like yours out there, but I have no recent experience with any.

Tracks that aren't tagged, and just have a title which is their original file name like "05 Dark Side Of The Moon-Pink Floyd-Money.mp3" can often be tagged in groups with a utility such as TriTag. It's still a somewhat manual process though, because there's loads of different file naming conventions people have used for MP3s over the years.
