duplicate songs

Post by kennykramer » Mon Mar 08, 2010 5:31 pm

will songs with the same title but different artists or different versions by the same artist be seen as duplicates. example: Song by Bruce same title same artist but two versions 1 version 3:24 sec another 5 min. Will one of them be erased by songsergant?

Duplicates that aren't really duplicates

Post by beastie » Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:10 am

Song Sergeant has a list of "rules" it abides by for determining what it thinks is a duplicate, which can be found in Song Sergeant's Preferences. Here's what it is set to by default:

In your example, they won't be considered duplicates because their durations differ by more than 10 seconds. Some live versions are almost exactly the same length as their studio recordings, so in those cases the easiest thing to do is to select both tracks in Song Sergeant's list of duplicates and click the "Note As Not Duplicates" button. They'll never be considered duplicates again, regardless of your settings in the above preferences window.
