Support for (Original Mix) duplicates

Postby Perplexity » Mon Jun 17, 2013 12:05 pm

Hi there,

I have duplicates of the following type:

Sebastian Brandt - Mana (Original Mix)
Sebastian Brandt - Mana

They are the same track, but one compilation adds the original mix and the other doesn't. I think I have a dozen of these duplicates. I hope Song Sergeant can merge these types of duplicates in the future!

Thanks in advance.

By default, Song Sergeant would not consider those two tracks as possible duplicates because their names differ too greatly.

That said, you can easily adjust the Duplicates area of Song Sergeant's preferences to not consider track titles and to perhaps be more discerning about track duration (e.g. lowering the allowed variation from 10 seconds to 2 seconds).

Even without purchasing Song Sergeant, you can adjust to these settings and scan your library to see what it comes up with. You'll get lots of false duplicates this way, but it would be useful for finding what you've described.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try that method.

I tried it and I've got lots of false positives. I have a huge library. So, an option to ignore certain strings like (original), (original mix), etc. would be nice!
