regular error message when merging - missing file error

Post by jimpfc657 » Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:09 am

since i have upgraded song sergeant to 1.3 i keep getting the error message missing file error , i have around 120GB of music and am regularly adding and taking music out, it used to work perfectly but now doesnt, the missing file message happens on virtually all duplicates, yet when i check in itunes itslef they are definitely duplicated...song sergeant also keeps crashing once i rescan 2 or 3 timrs. in fact since 1.3 its pretty unusable and very unstable...can i roll bck to 1.2?

Regarding crashes: Please always submit crash logs, we do look at them. In general we have found that 1.3 is much more stable than 1.2 on most people's systems, but we know that there are always exceptions.

Regarding error messages: In general, 1.3 is better at recognizing problems and reporting them, which may be somewhat alleviated by ensuring that "Display information about minor errors" is turned off in Song Sergeant's "Misc" preferences. At the end of the day, these are generally errors reported by iTunes, and are beyond Song Sergeant's control. Also remember that it is possible that changes in iTunes updates may be what is responsible for mysterious errors, but at any rate Song Sergeant 1.2.2 is available (for now) here:

We've definitely found that some problematic libraries need some cleaning up that 3rd party software cannot do, so I have written a guide that may also be helpful.
