Lyrics

Post by racerx1 » Sat Jul 21, 2007 3:19 pm

I just upgrade to version 1.7 and noticed that when I retrieve lyrics MPFreaker fills in only a single line of data: "Artist - Album - Song Title lyrics" and places a black bullet in the lyrics column. In other words, the program leaves me with the impression that I have indeed retrieved the lyrics for a song, but it hasn't.

I have also noticed that if I press the "Begin" button repeatedly (2 to 3) times MPFreaker will download the lyrics (assuming they are available).

Not sure if this is version specific or not as now I will have to review my iTunes library and check the lyrics field of every song.

Thanks!

"Artist - Album - Song Title lyrics"

Is that literally what appears in the Lyrics Inspector window sometimes, "Artist - Album - Song Title lyrics"? I did some heavy testing and wasn't able to reproduce this.

Could you give me an exact artist name, album name, and song title which makes this happen for you?

There was no specific artist or album -- it was pretty much a 50/50 chance of either retrieving the song lyrics or the "Artist - Album - Song Title lyrics" line as shown here:

U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb - City Of Blinding Lights lyrics

I'm guessing this info is passed on to the lyric search engine and if the search engine fails then this data is erroneously saved as the lyrics for the song.

A thorough test of all of MPFreaker's lyrics database interfaces has turned up nothing here. You might try trashing MPFreaker's preferences to see if it has any effect. It's at <your home directory> / Library / Preferences / com.lairware.mpfreaker.plist. If you're a registered user, you'll want to make sure you have your User Name and Registration Code handy for re-entry.

Please post what happens ...

Same problem here. deleting preferences did not fix it. here's how some faulty lyrics text field looks like:

Michael Jackson - Thriller - Billie Jean lyrics
Procol Harum - The Long Goodbye - A Whiter Shade Of Palelyrics
Little Richard - Unknown - Long Tall Sally lyrics

I suggest adding a "skip short text lyrics/replace lyrics with short text" option in the preferences to prevent future problems and allow users to fix the files with bad lyrics....

Thanks
