found artwork not showing up in iTunes

Post by saketini99 » Wed Sep 17, 2008 6:53 pm

MPFreaker worked great, found the album artwork for several items, but the artwork doesn't show up in iTunes (v8), at least not in coverflow or the new grid mode. But if I select the song and "get info", then artwork shows up in the art pane.... weird.

Any idea what's going on?

OK, I did a little more searching... these songs were originally distributed as podcasts and in the info pane of iTunes, the "media kind" lists them as such. Is there any way to change this info? Right now it's greyed out.

well, I found my answer... it's a bit tedious, but if you select the "podcast" and under the Advanced menu option, select "convert to AAC", it will make a copy that shows up as music with the correct artwork.

Podcast cover art

The particularly odd thing here is that podcasts do support cover art, MPFreaker can add it, and iTunes normally displays it. I don't understand why it didn't work for you in the first place, nor why you had to convert them.

Perhaps this is an issue introduced in a recent version of iTunes ...
