Re: Chest question
The contents of a chest is not determined until it is opened, thus this isn't really related to original data files -- but like most everything else in my port of Ultima III the behavior is taken directly from a disassembly of the original Apple II version. Some wacky 8-bit CPU logic, but here's the...

Possibly fixed now.
The latest beta (1.3b2 as of this writing) specifically addresses this problem, if you're reading this before 1.3 has been released, please try the beta from the link above.

Coping with bad iTunes XML
This sounds like a bug in iTunes that we worked around in Song Sergeant 1.2.1. Is it possible that you're using an older version of Song Sergeant than that? If so, please update to the latest.

Re: My SS running very slow and never finishes!
There is a known issue where on some systems iTunes becomes very unresponsive to communications from 3rd party applications such as Song Sergeant. Generally, Song Sergeant is good at coping with this kind of situation but it seems to be further complicated when working with a music library stored on...

Track not found
The "track not found" error means that there is a mismatch between the information Song Sergeant is getting from iTunes' library XML file and what the running iTunes itself has within it when communicating directly with Song Sergeant. This may mean that Song Sergeant has been directed to an incorrec...

Picard
That's great! I should add a few things for anyone else who reads this.
MusicBrainz Picard has a bit of a strange interface and does take some getting used to.
It's free!
You can download it here: http://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Picard

Trouble finding iTunes library location
AS an aside -- is there anything I can do or tweak to help it find my library? I'd be happy to try since it sounds like this shouldn't be happening. The other person I have communicated with experiencing this problem was using a particular NAS setup that we can't easily replicate here. You could se...

Known bug in 1.9.3
What's happening is that MPFreaker is having trouble locating your iTunes information, and there is a bug in 1.9.3's fallback code that would otherwise deal with this. It will be fixed for the next release, though I must say that it is highly unusual for MPFreaker to be unable to find your iTunes li...

Re: iTunes Unresponsive
I have indeed heard from many people with libraries larger than yours who haven't had this sort of problem, so I don't think that the size of your library is necessarily a factor. The "iTunes is being unresponsive" message is a warning, not an error. We've found that on some people's systems iTunes ...

iTunes being completely unresponsive
Cantello was kind enough to send in diagnostic information to help track this down. What was discovered may be of use to anyone else experiencing a problem like this, until we can get a new version of MPFreaker available with a fix. I can see that MPFreaker is trying to talk to iTunes, but for some ...

Removing duplicates between two different libraries
If you mean that you want to independently clean up the iTunes library on the external drive before combining them, no problem. Hold down the alt/option key when launching iTunes and it will ask you to choose the location of the library you want to use. After choosing the iTunes folder on your exter...
