Songs show up as locked

Post by jzee » Fri Oct 09, 2009 12:20 pm

Downloaded songs often show up as locked (and therefore, uneditable) in MPFreaker. I go to change permissions, and do, but the songs remain locked. MPFreaker won't edit songs that are locked. How do you unlock the songs? They are not DRM protected, just regular MP3's. I'm using OSX 10.5+ on my Powerbook.

Permissions/locked

To put it another way, this means in a general sense that OS X told MPFreaker that the song's file cannot be changed. I have not yet encountered a situation where that didn't mean either that 1) the song file was locked or there was 2) a permissions issue.

You won't necessarily be able to change the permissions for a song file that was added to iTunes whilst logged in as another user. Could this be the case?

I am using another machine for downloads and then transferring them to a networked HD that I use to store my music. I've tried resetting the songs permission to everyone and it seems to take, but again, the songs remained locked so I'm stumped.
