Song Sergeant stopped merging songs because we don't have permission to delete an unkept song file:
/Users/heavyd1972/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Compilations/Who Made Who/06 Hells Bells.m4a
any idea what this is and what to do about it?

You can almost certainly resolve problems of this kind by following these steps:
- 1) In Finder, select your home directory's Music folder
2) File menu > Get Info
3) Open the Sharing & Permissions section if it is closed
4) Click the "lock" icon in the lower right and enter your password
5) Click the "gear" button at the bottom of the window and select "Apply to enclosed items..."
Wait for it to finish, then try Song Sergeant again.

ok so i follow your directions, i get it to start merging and at some random spot, the largest one was 127 song it just quits and gives me the same error.
i repeat process and so on.
sometimes it will only do 2 songs before it gives the error, any clue?

The directions I gave should resolve any permissions problems but perhaps there's something else going on that is related. Can you navigate in Finder to a song file indicated by Song Sergeant's error message and use Finder's File>Get Info command on it, and post here what it shows for "Locked" and what it says in the Sharing & Permissions section?

so locked is unchecked and under sharing it says i can read and write,,,,?

Would it be possible for you to email screen shots to email@example.com
1) the error message in Song Sergeant and
2) of the corresponding Finder "Get Info" window?
